FC Barcelona are leading the Spanish Football Championship table after the 13th round. The defending champion won the home game against Celta Vigo 4-1 on Saturday, beating second-placed Real Madrid 2-0 to beat Eibar 4-0.
The hero of the evening at Camp Nou was again Lionel Messi – the Argentinian exploited a penalty in the 23rd minute and was successful in the 45th and 48th minute free-kick. With his 34th La Liga hat-trick, the 32-year-old set the best of Cristiano Ronaldo. For the final point made Sergio Busquets in the 85th minute.
Celta had succeeded in the interim 1: 1 in the 42nd minute from a free kick by Lucas Olaza. For the Galicians it was the first match under former Salzburg coach Oscar Garcia.
A few hours earlier, Barca's arch rival Real had taken a 4-0 victory in Eibar. The goals for the record champion were achieved by Karim Benzema (17th, 29th / fifteenth), Sergio Ramos (20th / fifteenth) and Federico Valverde (61st).
