He had to start the race a few moments later. On Monday, a 16-year-old cyclist was fatally hit by a car in Pleumeur-Bodou, north of Lannion, in the Côtes d'Armor. According to firefighters, he was reportedly hit by a car driven by an 87-year-old man. Circumstances
of the accident remain to be determined.

The accident occurred around 14:30, while the redundant teenager on Team Côte de Granit Rose, who was organizing the cyclocross race, was warming up. As he entered the roundabout, he was struck by a car coming in the opposite direction.

The canceled race

On the spot, the witnesses tried to revive it, before the arrival of the firemen. They also tried to bring the young man back to life, but to no avail. He died on the spot. The driver of the car, shocked, was transported to the hospital of Lannion. The organizers canceled the race.
