Gijon hosts the Spanish Winter Championship with 556 swimmers


Gijon, Nov 11 (EFE) .- The Santa Olaya Swimming Club will host from Thursday to Sunday the LXIII Winter Swimming Championship of Spain that is qualifying for the European Championship of short pool and in which the participation of 556 is planned swimmers among them much of the current national figures.

The importance of this winter championship is increased precisely because it will give most of the places to play the European that will take place in Glasgow, from December 4 to 8, it is propitiated by the presence in the olayist swimming pool of 131 club swimmers.

Of the more than half a thousand swimmers present, 307 are men and 246 women for a tight program that will begin on Thursday and will continue until Sunday with double sessions every day.

The Gredos San Diego club, with 34 representatives, will be the one with the highest participation followed by the CN Sant Andreu (23), Real Canoe NC (22), CN Sabadell and CN Mairena de Aljarafe (21) and CN Terrassa (20) and the hosts of the Santa Olaya CN contribute a total of 19 athletes.

In the pool of Santa Olaya will be among others Joan Lluis Pons, Jessica Vall, Lidon Munoz, Albert Escrits and Africa Zamorano (CN Sant Andreu), Marina Garcia (CN Sabadell), Miguel Duran (CN Terrassa), Cesar Castro (CN Santa Olaya ) or Paula Juste (CN Lleida). EFE
