Pollution: Tap water still unfit in Courtelary – Switzerland

The inhabitants of Courtelary (BE) will have to continue boiling their water. Since Thursday, the water is unfit for consumption in this village of 1500 inhabitants. Samples were taken Monday but the results are not yet known.

"The water samples taken Monday morning were taken to the laboratory in Bern. The results of the analyzes are not yet known, "explained Ronald Ermatinger, president of the Water Union. The first analyzes made it possible to identify the origin of the problem that lies at the source of the Borcairde.

The water has a high turbidity that prevents the treatment system from functioning normally, explains the municipality on its website. Low contamination (Escherichia coli) was detected. The pipes were purged. (Ps / nxp)
