Havana, Nov 11 (RHC) With airplane simulators, 3D cinemas, robotics areas, trees and talking monkeys, the La Quinta de Las Delicias mansion, in the Cerro municipality, was reopened as Finca de los Monos Technological Palace, on occasion of the 500th anniversary of Havana.
With the presence of Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of Popular Power and the State Council, this construction of the early twentieth century was reopened now as a space for interaction with technology from fun and learning.
The work was carried out by the Computer and Audiovisual Media Company (CINESOFT) in order to increase access to new technologies, especially for children. Its general director, Ivan Barreto Gelles, gave the opening remarks and recalled the importance of this type of local development projects.
Barreto spoke about the enormous responsibility that was to rescue the farm and, remembering Eduardo Galeano, said "Today we inaugurate a utopia that will grow permanently".
In the enclosure three real-size simulators of a train, an airplane and a yacht stand out. The plane, converted into a simulator that allows you to experience what it would be like to pilot it on a supposed Havana-Santiago trip, also has an ice cream shop inside.
The train, on the other hand, allows you to drive virtually from the cabin and is "the house of bread", while the yacht allows you to navigate and enter the bay of Havana.
The inauguration was attended by the ministers of Communications, Education and Transportation, Jorge Luis Perdomo, Ena Elsa Velazquez and Eduardo Rodriguez Davila, who toured different spaces of the palace, such as a small golf course, a bird watching area, a park made of recycled tires and an indigenous batey.
Within the main construction there is a 3D cinema and another 12D (a space that transmits images, movements and smells to the viewer), a language classroom, a robotics area, a shooting simulator and an Internet cafe, among others.
As a tribute to its former owner, Rosalia Abreu, who made of her Quinta de Las Delicias the first zoo in Cuba, it is possible to see monkeys, many of them animatronic, throughout the terrain, so they interact with visitors. Likewise, talking trees are added to the natural habitat of the farm. One of them offers a welcome to the park with useful information and instructions.
The new technology park will function as a Pioneer Palace from Tuesday to Friday in the mornings and then open to the public, with gastronomic offers, with options such as Italian food or charcoal.
Reynaldo Garcia Zapata, president of the Provincial Assembly and Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, first secretary of the Party in Havana also attended the inauguration.
