Huawei has announced the market launch for its response to the Airpods Pro: The Freebuds 3 are available from 18 November for the price of 179 euros.

Unlike Apple's Airpods Pro, the Freebuds are 3 open-fit true wireless earplugs with intelligent noise cancellation. This means that they do not completely close the ear canal; nevertheless, they should be able to suppress ambient noise by up to 15 decibels, Huawei said. Even wind noise when making calls can be hided according to Huawei up to a speed of 20 kilometers per hour. In addition to be scanned via a sensor in the earplugs bone vibrations and thus distinguish between speech and noise.

An important component of the Freebuds 3 is the in-house developed A1 chip, which is to cheer on wearables and heavrables. The chip should be 50 percent smaller than Apple's H1 processor, which is installed in the Airpods, and supports Bluetooth 5.1 LE. According to Huawei, the chip is said to provide lower device-to-device latency and true wireless head-listening than competing products. 14-millimeter drivers are responsible for the sound output.

Huawei's new Freebuds could also build a so-called "Isochronous Dual Channel Bluetooth" connection, giving the earplugs left and right independent signals. In addition, the chip is to provide a fast data transfer of up to 2.3 megabits per second for Bluetooth UHD quality. In this way, FLAC files could be played wirelessly without encoding, Huawei said.

Like the earplugs of some competitors, the freebuds can be charged in the case and should therefore offer a total runtime of up to 20 hours. A True Wireless in-ear handset's battery charge is enough for four hours of playback, Huawei said. The case can be recharged via wireless charging or via USB-C port. Recharging via Qi wireless charging station or by a smartphone like the P30 Pro is also possible via reverse wireless charging on the road.

According to the manufacturer, the Freebuds 3 are available in white and black from 18 November – instead of the price of 199 euros communicated in September, they now cost 179 euros.
