Venice: high water slows down, maximum does not reach 80 cm
High water slows down considerably in Venice. After a series of record measurements in the last 24 hours, in the evening the maximum struggled to reach 80 cm, below which not even Piazza San Marco is flooded. The sirocco wind has waned, atmospheric pressure is increasing, and this plays against exceptional tides. Tonight the alarm sirens had resounded again, for a forecast of 125 cm, at 11.35 pm; then the estimate was gradually revised downwards from the Tide Center. For over an hour the level has been oscillating between 76 and 77 centimeters on the middle sea.
