Former world football star Thierry Henry will coach Montreal Impact in Canada. The commitment of former World and European champion for two years plus option was announced by the club from the North American Major League Soccer (MLS) on Thursday.
The 42-year-old Henry had coached Belgium at the World Cup in Russia, the Red Devils were third. Subsequently, the French took over in his home country AS Monaco, but was quickly released in January after only two wins in twelve league games.
"Coaching Montreal Impact is a great honor for me," said Henry, "I know the league well and have had many great moments here." Among other things, in games against Montreal – against no other team, he met in his 122 MLS missions more often than against the Canadians (nine goals in five duels). Thierry Henry will be officially introduced on Monday.
