We had our arguments, but I would also like to say to you on your departure that you are one of the most important figures in the history of FC Bayern, and I appreciate your life's work very much. You have made your FC Bayern to this big and structured club that it is today. Chapeau !!!

Now take time for other things in the social, but also family existence, I'm sure you will enjoy your life without the everyday life at Bayern! I sincerely wish Susi and you a lot of health, because that is the most important thing that you can enjoy together!

And if I can imagine you retired, you should too, or :)?

Retirement is also part of life for a person as vital as you. The transition is not easy, if you're used to steering for decades like you. It took me two to three years. But you will grab it. You will be caught by your family, especially by your great wife Susi, whom I really appreciate.

For the media, our arguments were a gnawing eaten: an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. I was often asked if the show was for business – or if we really did not like each other. I always replied: We did not like each other. But a few years ago, you took the first step. I have long since met a Uli Hoeneb, whom I would never contradict permanently. You're an incredibly social person who does a lot of charitable work without talking about it. As an example, I can only thank you for your support in a project in Zimbabwe, where we help girls on their way to graduation. I met a humble Uli.

You fight like a lion if yours are attacked, that speaks for you, but please do not mind me, if I may advise you for your retirement: In the sense of your successors, who have to follow in huge footsteps and find their own way If something goes wrong, say it diplomatically in private. Not full pipe in public. Otherwise they will have it very, very hard. You have made the history of FC Bayern and the whole football Bundesliga significantly to a success story – that will never be forgotten.

I would be glad, if we meet again like a few years ago, when you offered me that you. We could have a glass of wine to toast to new times and the old ones are behind us. I wish you and your family a heartfelt health and happiness!

Against the backdrop of your approaching resignation as FC Bayern Munich President, it is my personal concern to express my great respect for you, which I have before your lifetime achievement.

To shape a 40-year time span as manager or president of FC Bayern Munich as you have done is absolutely extraordinary!

I want to be honest: we both often did not make it easy for each other. Probably against the background of the rivalry of our clubs and against the background of our personality structure, this was not possible at all. And yet I am convinced that despite all different views, the respect for each other was always there.

I wish you good health for your future, more time with your family and that you succeed in letting go of your job as a member of the supervisory board of FC Bayern.

Paul Breitner, former friend: "Like Santiago Bernabeu"

The only thing I want to say in farewell to Uli Hoeneb – regardless of any personal disagreements – is: He is the only footballer I put on the level with Santiago Bernabeu. What Uli Hoeneb has done for Bayern is great – just what Santiago Bernabeu (long-standing president) did for Real Madrid.
