the SNCF removes TER, a mayor resigns

It is a symbolic gesture with consequences. The mayor of Templeuve-en-Pevele (North) presented, Friday, November 15 in the morning, his resignation to the prefect. He denounced the suppression of certain train stops in his commune. "All my actions have been in vain, so today I ask you to accept my resignation as mayor for 18 years"says Luc Monnet, the Templeuve-en-Pevele town council in his letter to the prefect.

The mayor is even more bitter than with other elected officials, they invested 12 million euros to improve infrastructure. In one month, 17 of the 72 TERs that are running every day in Templeuve should be removed. Train deletions can be explained by the annual overhaul of schedules throughout France. According to the SNCF, Templeuve-en-Pevele is penalized, while other cities will benefit from more services. Users are dissatisfied and 6,000 users have launched the petition signed by the mayor. A call to the SNCF and the Hauts-de-France region to review their copies.
