Frenchman Martin Fourcade at the mass start of the World Biathlon Championship on 17 March 2019 in Ostersund (Sweden) Jonathan NACKSTRAND
Seven-time winner of the Biathlon World Cup, Martin Fourcade experienced last winter his worst season since 2009 finishing only 12th overall.
The win, with 18 out of 20 shooting and good skiing, should reassure him as the World Biathlon Cup begins on November 30 in Ostersund, Sweden. He took Saturday 3rd place in the sprint of these Norwegian selections.
Fourcade beat another Frenchman, Antonin Guigonnat (15 ", 19/20), and Norwegian Ender Stromsheim (16", 18/20).
The Norwegian Johannes Boe, outgoing World Cup winner and main opponent of Martin Fourcade, took only 6th place in this mass start, penalized by four shooting fouls.
On the women's side, the victory went to Italy's Dorothea Wierer, winner of the last World Cup.
