Mainz 05 has found a successor for Sandro Schwarz: New coach is Achim Beierlorzer. He had been released one day before Black himself. His former club, the 1st FC Cologne, should also have been found.
FBundesliga club FSV Mainz 05 has signed Achim Beierlorzer as new coach. About a week after his release in league rivals 1. FC KOln, the 51-year-old joins Mainz to succeed Sandro Schwarz. Black was released after the 2: 3 against Union Berlin. Beierlorzer receives a contract with Rheinhessen until 2022.
The Mainz team had set two club records under black within a week. The 0: 8 at RB Leipzig on Matchday 10 was the highest league defeat, the defeat against Union was already the eighth in the current season. The Mainz had never conceded so many defeats in the first eleven match days. With nine points after eleven games Mainz ranks on the relegation place.
One day before Black Beierlorzer had to vacate his chair in Cologne. The 1: 2 defeat against TSG Hoffenheim was his last game as a coach of the FC. His record is even worse than that of Black. Cologne is with seven points as Table 17. on a direct relegation place.
"A typical coach for Mainz 05"
The younger brother of former Bayern professional Bertram Beierlorzer already worked in various roles at RB Leipzig and was from 2017 to 2019 head coach at SSV Jahn Regensburg. Cologne had on Friday, only a week after the breakup, the 2021 ongoing contract with the coach dissolved. About the height of the compensation made the club no information.
"Surely this is a curious situation in football: a week ago I was still a coach in Cologne, now I will be presented in Mainz as a head coach," said Beierlorzer. FSV sports director Rouven SchrOder commented: "Achim Beierlorzer is a typical coach for Mainz 05 in terms of factual and content."
Cologne should agree with Gisdol
In Cologne, meanwhile, a new coach has been found. According to information from the "Express" the former Hamburger and Hoffenheim Markus Gisdol is about to sign and possibly be presented on Monday.
The two assistant coaches Andre Pawlak and Manfred Schmid are currently serving the team on an interim basis and preparing them for the difficult Bundesliga match on Saturday (18.30 / Sky) at RB Leipzig. Bruno Labbadia had waved after the contact by the FC quickly, even the last traded former Hertha coach Pal Dardai should have no interest.
