(CNN Spanish) – The plenary of the Criminal Chamber of the National Court of Spain on Monday agreed to extradite the US. to the former director of Venezuelan military counterintelligence Hugo Carvajal.
Carvajal is claimed by the US to be tried for alleged drug trafficking, among other crimes, according to an official statement.
The third section of the National Court rejected extradition in September.
The new opinion states that the events described in the extradition “encompass continued and organized conduct in relation to drug trafficking carried out for twenty years that fit within the Spanish Criminal Code in the crime of belonging to a criminal organization or collaboration with a terrorist organization and to this provides sufficient evidence that could justify a prosecution order ”.
