The snow tour bus starts in the second season

The snow tour bus, launched last winter, is entering its second season. The winter timetable 2019/20 is online – from now on you can book trips.

Launched last year by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) and the VCS Verkehrs-Club, the project opens the last mile to various classic ski and snowshoe tours and complements the public transport network. The so-called snow tour bus brings winter sports enthusiasts from the last accessible public transport stop to the popular tour starting points. These are often otherwise accessible only by car.

The snow tour bus is a project of Swiss Alpine Club SAC and VCS Traffic Club of Switzerland. PostBus and Mountain Wilderness Switzerland have been partners since the start of the pilot operation.
The new range of services for skitouring and snowshoeing runs since winter 2018/2019. It opens up starting points that were previously not accessible by public transport. The various mountain regions also open up conventional winter sports destinations such as cross-country ski trails, ski lifts and toboggan runs.

The offer covers eight connections in the five cantons of Bern, Graubunden, Lucerne, Uri and Valais in the 2019/20 season. Classic touring destinations, for example, in the Julier or Susten area, signposted snowshoe trails in Prattigauer Pany or in the Luthertal on the Napf, as well as destinations for sleigh fans in Brun (Safiental). There are also attractive offers in the regions Binntal (VS), Diemtigtal (BE) and Lukmanier (GR).

The snow tour bus – like a call bus – must be reserved in advance and will only run if there are enough reservations. The timetables are published exclusively on the snow tour bus web portal.

As of this season, all regional providers have now defined thresholds as of which number of persons a particular course starts. In some regions, two reservations are enough. The confirmation to the reserving person is carried out automatically by the system. (HTR)
