Brandenburg votes on climate package: talks to last
Berlin / Potsdam. The new Kenya coalition in Brandenburg is facing a challenge with the vote on the climate protection package in the Bundesrat. Until shortly before the meeting on today's Friday in Berlin should be led to information of the German press agency still discussions. This applies both to individual parties internally as well as for the coordination of the coalition partners SPD, CDU and Greens among themselves.
The Greens have further demands on some points. In the coalition agreement of the three parties, it has been agreed that abstentions in the Federal Council should rather remain an exception. Several federal states have demanded significant improvements before the vote and thus went on a confrontation course with the Federal Government. Above all, the ten state governments in which the Greens are involved, will probably not agree on Friday.
The Climate Protection Program of the Federal Government is not sufficient in their view. For example, there is a fixed price for CO2 in transport and heating from 2021. However, only a few changes in tax law require the approval of the Lander – this includes a higher commuter tax, the reduction of VAT for train tickets and the promotion of building renovation. It is certain that the Land Chamber will convene the Conciliation Committee for taxation purposes.
