Number of people in assistance continues to fall

Among people up to the age of 27, the 12 percent decrease was the strongest. In the 27 to 45 age group, there were 14,000 fewer people on social assistance benefit, which is equivalent to a 9 percent decrease.

Increase state pension age

The decrease was lowest for people older than 45, partly due to the gradual increase in the state pension age. As a result, the elderly are less likely to flow out of social assistance.

The number of people on social assistance declined among both born and raised Dutch people and people whose roots lie elsewhere. It is the seventh consecutive quarter that the number of social assistance recipients is decreasing regardless of the background.
